Medical Assistant

Our Direct Primary Care clinic is growing! We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Direct Primary Care team. Responsibilities:

  • Documents patient intake, including vital statistics, verification of allergies, past medical history, and updated medication list.  

  • Prepares patient for medical exams consistent with the reason for visit. 

  • Assists physician / nurse practitioner with medical procedures, draws labs, administers immunizations or IM injections, taking vital signs, performing EKGs, peak flows, spirometry, administering nebulizers and other routinely performed in-office services consistent with the training of a medical assistant. 

  • Ensures all related screenings, reports, labs and information is filled out and available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment. 

  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential.

  • Prepares rooms for patient examinations; assists physician/nurse practitioner during procedures and exams.

  • Disinfects and cleans exam rooms/waiting areas; maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complies with legal regulations.

  • Keeps exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies; maintains instruments; prepares sterilization as required; properly disposes of contaminated supplies.

  • Keeps supplies available, notifying when supplies need purchased.

  • Maintains all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, lab QCs & logs, etc.)

  • Takes telephone messages and provides feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls.

  • Draws blood, dips urine, prepares samples for transport to lab with accurately completed appropriate documentation.

  • Prepares patient referral documentation and tracks referrals; coordinates with patients, their insurance, and outside facilities/clinics to ensure timely care. 

  • Dispensing (per a specific role delineated by in-house pharmacy policy with physician/nurse practitioner oversight) from in-house pharmacy. 

  • Working one on one with physician/nurse practitioner and patients

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent substitute.

  • Previous work or educational experience as a medical assistant. 

  • Current BLS Certification or ability to acquire

  • Requires up-to-date COVID vaccination

  • Strong computer skills; experience with EMR, Excel and MS Outlook.
